@mdwalters @fedora Color management doesn't work on Wayland yet, but there's finally work being done on that. Xorg XRDP, when you want to have a proper remote desktop solution, and doesn't work with Wayland. @mdwalters I keep running into issues with screen sharing. Recently had to switch my Debian server to Xorg because that was easier than figuring out how to make Wayland work. @Anibyl @mdwalters this is so true. I've had that problem myself and i saw others struggle with it. @mdwalters @fedora sadly, accessibility on wayland is not really a thing. So if you need that, wayland is not an option @mdwalters @fedora Steamlink doesn't work on wayland last I checked, so I'm stuck with X11 until Valve fixes it @mdwalters @fedora VR and VRR on GNOME has been my reason. I really don't want to be forced over to using Plasma and Plasma only. Simply due to GNOME's perpetual unreadiness for Wayland. @mdwalters X11 just works very well for me in comparison @mdwalters @fedora It's still unusable for most games that run over Xwayland if you have an NVIDIA GPU and use the proprietary driver stack. Needs explicit sync. @fedora #Fedora #FedoraPoll #Wayland #X11 #Xorg #Linux #OpenSource #FOSS All is Wayland here. -- I converted a while ago and at this point, I can even remove xWayland without issue (I know, I did). @Linux_Is_Best @fedora How? I think I have old X11 only apps here. How do you replace such apps? You either use apps that support Wayland or find alternatives that do. Luckily, all the apps I use have updated to support Wayland, including Firefox. @stefanjahn @Linux_Is_Best @fedora all my apps are headless/webinterfaces (keepass, syncthing, mopidy) then there is firefox/thunderbird/evolution, a terminal emulator and a occasional audio/video/picture editor (all wayland supported before i even switched) thats it for my machine. everything else happens in the browser these days. @fedora We’re working on it 😅 Joining the club very soon! https://github.com/orgs/elementary/projects/118 @emerssso @fedora I daily drive Fedora with gnome and wayland on an alienware with a rtx4070 with absolutely no problem. Use Immersed to multiple VR screens on wayland with no problem. Just the mouse cursor has a problem, but there is this accessibility zoom workaround that solves it. I have this Samsung G9 monitor, which I use with the top 5120x1440 resolution at 120Hz with absolutely no problem. Love Fedora, Gnome, and Wayland. Just give it a new shot. @fedora@fosstodon.org X11 just doesn't work for me :/ @fedora X11 until Xfce switches to Wayland. I think that should be within the next release if I'm not mistaken. @fedora wish it was Wayland already but the NVIDIA drivers do not allow me to make the switch yet… @fedora X11, but that'll change quickly when Budgie 11 gets released ✌️😎 @fedora Wayland BUT all of my computers use Intel graphics. I would not blame anyone with NVIDIA for using X11. @fedora Both of them - My work-provided PC with a nvidia card uses X11 (cannot make wayland work on it), and the others use Wayland... @fedora On my private devices I'm using Wayland, on my Working Machine I'm using X11 because of barrier. I need to interact with windows, if someone knows a working wayland alternative I'm ready to switch :D @creepy_owlet @fedora Same here MATE isn't perfect, but it's what we use... and have been for nearly 20 years @fedora@fosstodon.org Wayland at work after I had a lot of issues with X11 at home I'm mostly still using X11 because I had some issues with Wayland there that made using it impractical but I'm looking forward to Plasma 6 to switch to Wayland with it for good @fedora Since the Wine wayland driver was released, I'm daily driving Wayland. It's awesome! @fedora Wayland didn't work on my T510 in Plasma until recently. Great work, #Wayland and #kde_plasma teams! |
@fedora Wayland + Sway
