@kaybee @nonfedimemes *Mourns Google Wave* @Raccoon At least Google Wave got transferred to the Apache project so it's not completely gone (https://incubator.apache.org/projects/wave.html) *Mourns Google Reader* @kaybee @nonfedimemes Me too. It was the best social media for creating intentional communities around specific topics. @nonfedimemes we can watch this unfold on YouTube, Google's replacement for Google Video @GlasWolf @astraluma @resol @nonfedimemes #AskFedi @FediTips can I filter my whole experience by content warnings? Some days I coulr have a "sarcastic" free experience, others I can relax watching "trolls" discussing. @mapache @GlasWolf @astraluma @nonfedimemes @FediTips you would have to tap/click a lot in order to see what was going on for every single reply. That ain't fun. @resol @GlasWolf @astraluma @nonfedimemes @FediTips that is what I mean. Maybe a feature request for mastodon to configure by default unblocking/blocking certain content warning words. @mapache @GlasWolf @astraluma @resol @nonfedimemes I'm not 100% sure what you mean? Filters can use CWs if you want, or they can hide stuff completely if you prefer. @astraluma @nonfedimemes I know. Google had their own video hosting platform, but once they bought YouTube, that was what replaced it. @nonfedimemes google ultra giga tera 5.0 super premiere applications hangouts talk meet original edition suite plus voice talk super 9000 4000 3000 5000 6000 male female non-binary your mum your dad your nan your aunt your uncle your videotube your NOAA Weather Radio your Intel 80486SX/25 super 5.0 now available at aslhasyifgsdjfhgsjkdhfagsjdhfsfgasgfgfgfgfgjfgfggfkfuiosdajdgfhhf.google.com @nonfedimemes I had to download Google meet on my phone to video call my wife the other day. It used to be integrated right into the phone app, before that it was separated out by Google Duo. I'm still confused. @Marighost @nonfedimemes google meet video calls and volte video calls are separate afaik @nonfedimemes I tell friends that Google named its parent company Alphabet so it could keep an alphabetical list of their failed companies and projects. @chuck @nonfedimemes But wait... wait... '+' isn't an alphabetic character. Maybe they should have called their parent company 'ASCII'? @nonfedimemes this is the reason I do not and will never use Google apps. They have a habit of disappearing or becoming a morass of product names. @JezCaudle @nonfedimemes try figuring out what license tier you need for a particular Microsoft feature. @dragonfrog @nonfedimemes I don’t use MS stuff either unless forced to do so by a client or to support a client. I once tried to get my head around Oracle licensing - just the once. And never again. There is this! My phone is almost like this. Asking for passwords for things I do not give a crap about. @nonfedimemes Google Graveyard @nonfedimemes Reminds me of pet rock. none of that technological razzle dazzle but a true marketing break through @nonfedimemes so goddamn true. I'll ponder this while I listen to some podcasts in what was formerly google podcasts on youtube music, formerly youtube red, formerly google music, formerly google play music.. @nonfedimemes Well, Voice is still A Thing, because I use Voice to manage my calls still (though most cellphones now natively do what Voice offered). Absolutely cackling, honestly I might save these screenshots so that when I forget what the current fucking names of these things are, I have a reference @nonfedimemes This is why I have trust issues Google. This is why you've driven me to self-host as much as I can in my home lab. You broke me. @nonfedimemes I don’t think this meme is fair. Everyone knows product renaming is an invaluable business strategy to innovation and growth. @nonfedimemes @HunterZ They stole a page from Microsoft! I'm waiting for AI (it's not really) to scramble google and all its pieces so badly that it becomes unusable and it goes the way of myspace. @nonfedimemes I never got embroiled enough in the Google ecosystem to encounter this mess 😆 It’s crazy how little they care for their branding. I don’t even try to remember or even know their latest product changes, I just got tired with them. |
