@mos_8502 This is SO true, I remember the 80s as well as "the time we had practically ZERO money in our pockets", when an icecream was a "Sunday treat" ( and NOT every Sunday ) when it was a DREAM to have a computer at home when the only media was the radio/tv/magazines and we even had absolutely NO PHONE at home ( my grandma had one ) and doing a phone call was someway "exotic".

My childhood bedroom might not have looked like that ideal 80s esthetic but my clothing damn well did. 😂

Okay so it's not the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, but it's still pretty nice to say I got it working.

I’m sorry. Mastodon has spoiled me. I cannot seem to take BlueSky or Xitter or Threads or any of that shit at all seriously. They have nothing but a Big Name attached. Inferior technology, name recognition, and a toonie will get you a large double double at Tim Hortons, but it don’t pay the freight anymore in social networking.

The reason HTML 5 won and XHTML 2 lost is that XHTML 2 was a better document markup format, and HTML 5 was designed to support web apps, which the idiot market had decided were important enough to throw away the entire point of the web.

I feel like it's been half forgotten, that HTML was supposed to be a more accessible SGML, a document markup language for structured documents with hyperlinks. Everything that's been added on, behavioural stuff like JavaScript and WebGL and all that shit? It's just ruined two good things by mixing them.

@mos_8502 I can't tell at this resolution, but I think that's below the edition of Britannica with spine labels including "Chicago Death", "Precolumbian Saint", and "Menage Ottowa".
@mos_8502 right. That's my weekend sorted.
