I’m just remembering the time FB killed a bunch of small media companies by pretending that its video engagement was through the roof.
And the time they non-consensually experimented with only showing awful things to certain users to see if it would isolate and depress them (it did).
And the time they hosted the livestream of a mass shooting hate crime.
And the time they enabled a genocide.
Or Cambridge Analytica. JFC remembering facts and events is not hard.
@dznz Remember when they used phone numbers given for 2FA to merge accounts across platforms? Or all their flagrantly anticompetitive buyouts?
@dznz To be "fair" (?), they only *claimed* their unethical experiment to manipulate their users' emotions was successful. I read the actual paper they published, and in my opinion their case was not very compelling. So really they "only" unethically engaged in nonconsensual human experimentation for a poor-quality study from which we learned nothing one way or the other, rather than definitely harming their subjects' mental health.
@dznz I remember one time I became aware of Mark Zuckerberg's person account for some reason and immediately tried to block it. I could not! I was blocked from blocking Mark Zuckerberg.
...which I guess is kind of minor when compared with all of their other atrocities, but it COUNTS 😤
