Average fedi timeline: Cat girl: meow meow meow! FOSS guy: lol I fucked up a tool chain Trans cat girl: Meow meow meow! that one person on the timeline: HERE'S WHAT I'M PISSED ABOUT Trans cat girl who is also a FOSS person: nyaaaaa Polish old man: Każdego ranka budzę się i, cholera, te kotki. Zawsze miauczą i proszą o kolację. Ten hałas sprawia mi ból, ale dźwięk ich łap biegających po podłodze nadal rozgrzewa moje serce

RIP my notifications. Glad you all like this post! I'm muting my notifications though so I can see literally anything else :) Be nice to each other. No death threats or other unhinged fedi nonsense :)

@Dio9sys we need a new step 6 to avoid the raspberry pie part (which defeats the whole point of retrotech anyways) and i propose that more than one batch of replacement parts by more than one person/group are made which creates a glut of inventory but gluts like that are how to avoid the ebay people showing up anyways, and there's always someone who will hold onto large amounts of spares and deal with the slow, cheap resale slog for the good of the community (like me)

The retrotech cycle V2 (stop that pathetic midlife crisis baloney) 1. Thing is cool

The fediverse is magical. Nowhere else have I gone to get proof of concept code, discourse about discourse, pictures of red pandas and people on FBI watch lists being horny on main

I just learned that my husband has possibly the most cursed WFH technique I've ever heard of: 1. He sets an alarm to go off every 30 minutes. 2. When the alarm goes off he checks his work email, makes calls, fills out forms etc 3. When he has finished whatever task he is doing he IMMEDIATELY falls asleep 4. The next time the alarm goes off he wakes up and repeats this process It's like pomodoro technique for snorlax

@Dio9sys I feel duty bound to point out that this is literally how computer task schedulers work. Except the alarms are a bit more frequent.

You wake up in a cold sweat. EEE tactics? Every browser being chrome? metafedi? Strange words from your dream. You stand up, stretch, and check your email on one side of the screen and your gemini client on the other side of the screen. The warm glow of your screen belies the fact that you're packing the latest and greatest 3dfx chip, using some of the shader tech they acquired when they bought out nvidia back in the 90s. Time to play that new Marathon game. Good thing they ported it to Solaris!

@Dio9sys totally off-topic but https://alephone.lhowon.org/ is real and alive and legally free and people should go there because marathon is fucking great.

@Dio9sys can we at least keep Linux in this timeline? I don't wanna use Solaris... |
@Dio9sys
Charles is no more unpopular than the outdated institution of class and aristocracy.
Doing away with monarchy is at best a good lesson on democracy, great, but would affect little else. The real subversions of democracy are capture of government by corporations and control of the economy by monopolies.
Parliament already took the monarchy's power, it is their obedience to corporate wealth that harms us.
@Dio9sys deeply different scales of unpopularity
@Dio9sys Ha ha very funny
Also wildly inaccurate
