"They also say that Meta expects “tens of millions” of people to try Threads within the first few days of availability." - @alexeheath

Meta is planning to release its Twitter competitor in mid July, I’m told. It will eventually hook into Mastodon/ActivityPub but not at first. theverge.com/2023/6/23/2377159

In last week's newsletter, I spoke with Medium CEO @@coachtony about why he is so bullish on ActivityPub/Mastodon vs. other decentralized social media protocols (Bluesky, Nostr, etc.): “I'm looking at all these interesting protocol ideas and I'm thinking that they don't stand a chance because all of the adoption went to Mastodon"

@coachtony @alexeheath Anyone who says " all of the adoption went to Mastodon" doesn't know anybody besides Tweeps, and I'm typing this comment via Friendica. The big news is that Twitter isn't everybody, and the Fediverse (of which Mastodon is but a part) has had major press feeds since well before Musk. Anyone who makes a statment about all adoptions is still wet behind the ears. ;-}}
