@gamingonlinux mine no longer smells ๐Ÿ˜ญ After ssd upgrade it has lost the lovely steamdeck smell.

samsoul75

@gamingonlinux I must confess I do that regularly too. Mostly during loading times. Mine is not that smelly anymore but the hot air flow on the upper lip always feels nice

TBari

@gamingonlinux i thought I'm the only one doing this ๐Ÿ˜… I'm glad I'm not alone.

@gamingonlinux just flashed mine on fedora, worked flawlessly only needing to use chrome was annoying. u-dev rule is understandable, but might be problematic for some users.

@gamingonlinux I managed to update my Stadia controller to use bluetooth, but I can not for the life of me make it work under Steam. I assume I might need to do something to map the controller correctly, but for instance playing ARK I could not get the aiming to work, although I could move around using the controller.

If this handles the sort of old games that sorely need a community patch to run acceptably (eg Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines) this could be the start of a big deal for Linux distros in the Steam hardware survey generally.

This looks close to merging "modded PC gaming" with "push cartridge into console and turn on to start playing". I'd love to just start playing Morrowind or Deus Ex with QoL mods and .ini edits like it was Streets of Rage 2 on a Mega Drive.

Patch note on Steam right now for The Division 2:
"Fixed an issue that caused the game to be unable to boot on Steam Deck"
Maybe you can test it again?

Imagine being "stoked" that Elon became your CEO, you email him and then fired. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

It's also nice to see I'm not the only one who does a goof with URLs sometimes "workplace-salute-emoji" ๐Ÿ˜‚

Or is that URL intentional ๐Ÿค”

Twitter might have had a reputation as a left-leaning workforce, but there had always been a faction that disapproved of its progressive ideals. On Slack, some of these workers had formed a channel called #i-dissent, where they asked questions like why deadnaming a trans colleague was considered โ€œbad.โ€ When Musk announced he was buying the company, one of the more active i-ยญdissenters was thrilled. โ€œElonโ€™s my new boss and Iโ€™m stoked!โ€ he wrote on LinkedยญIn. โ€œI decided to send him a slack message. I figured you miss 100% of the shots you donโ€™t make ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿš€ ๐ŸŒ•โ€

This employee was cut during the first round of layoffs. Soon, all the prominent members of the #i-dissent Slack channel would be gone. The channel itself was archived, while bigger social channels like #social-watercooler were abandoned.

@gamingonlinux Yup, I already had it set! I generally prefer darker UI for apps and websites I spend a lot of time looking at. A little easier on the eyes. I appreciate you making it an option! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ‘

@gamingonlinux as a modern board games fan I approve this! :allthethings:

@gamingonlinux That is awesome! I have been looking for an alternative to Tabletop Sim. This isn't going to replace it right away but down the line this is going to be great for getting my friends together for TTRPG and miniature campaigns. Also it being made in the Godot Engine is a plus.

@gamingonlinux Developer here, thank you for sharing my game! It's a weird but awesome feeling having someone you've been following for a while write about your project ๐Ÿ˜

@gamingonlinux This is why I'm happy the Steam Deck is a thing. GPUs in particular almost feel like getting scammed buying one and I just kind of want off that ride.

...Fortunately Valve came up with a solution that runs Linux as a cherry on top.

Granted it doesn't replace really high end cards but it's kind of to the point where it makes more sense to rent compute time than to try and buy one.

@gamingonlinux The one and only "ready to run" it self built pc I bought was the MSI Aegis something something 5. With a 3090 i9 11900K and 128GB of ram. Power machine. Monster. Superfast.
Ugly as fuck. Build to the limit. Permanently overheating, even with the water cooling unit which was built in.
No thank you. No MSI parts for a looooong time.
And no nVidia on Linux. Not until the OSS drivers are usable.

@gamingonlinux those leaks are getting out of hand :partyparrot:

renegadespork

@gamingonlinux Unfortunately the harm this does to Valveโ€™s trust in license partners doesnโ€™t seem worth old information on a bunch of cancelled projects.

Alex

@gamingonlinux correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like Tyler was doing wrong assumptions again and the leaker decided to leak what they had to prove Tyler wrong?

it seems like it's another one of the Tyler's sagas that ends up doing more damage to the Source community as a whole than helping it out.
