@gamingonlinux
who knows.. maybe this means that Valve has some ARM device in the pipeline.. ๐Ÿค”

doragasu

@gamingonlinux Congrats to @alyssa, she is extremely talented and has already made awesome contributions to Linux graphics. It's great seeing more exciting things are coming for Linux gamers!

GMate8

@gamingonlinux

@herrbischoff looks like it's slowly starting what we've been talking about. Small step for them right now, but a big step for the Linux community adopting the masses in the long term.

CEbbinghaus

@gamingonlinux This would be pretty lit. Really hope it supports nvenc encoding since I suspect the propiotary one is causing kernel panics for me

DSBeans

@gamingonlinux

Kepler support? Yes please! The lack of dx11 vulkan support from the official "legacy" drivers on my old box with a gtx 770 has been a pain.

DELETED

@gamingonlinux Once again ONLY VALVE sources, this doesnโ€™t mean there is 10k playable games for steam deck. It means Valve give them verified fake reviews. Looking at protonDB you can see certain games can not work without tweaking the settings or original code. There is no 10,000 playable games, there is only a list of possible games.

@gamingonlinux I'm surprised people still mess around with them at this point.

@gamingonlinux I cannot begin to count the ways in which I despise NVIDIA, especially as a Linux user.

Oven๐Ÿงช

@gamingonlinux One of the biggest pain points of running linux as your primary os right there ๐Ÿ˜ซ

@ivory any idea when youโ€™ll be adding the option to mute a post?

Ivory by Tapbots :emoji_wink:

@gamingonlinux No time frame on anything like that. It is on our long list to look into muting threads.

Re: RHEL CentOS git changes. They now make it clear their recent changes were to stop others repackaging into other distributions.

I do *get* what theyโ€™re trying to say. Simply allowing others super easy access to repack doesnโ€™t make business sense for them.

However those two paragraphโ€™s donโ€™t help how they look and directly contradict each otherโ€ฆ.

Literally goes from โ€Donโ€™t build from us you freeloadersโ€ To โ€œBuilding from others is what open source is all aboutโ€.

โ€œSimply rebuilding code, without adding value or changing it in any way, represents a real threat to open source companies everywhere. This is a real threat to open source, and one that has the potential to revert open source back into a hobbyist- and hackers-only activity.

We donโ€™t want that and I know our community members, customers and partners donโ€™t want that. Innovation happens in the upstream. Building on the shoulders of others is what open source is about. Letโ€™s continue to drive innovation, support one another and keep moving forward.โ€

@gamingonlinux I assume this is some enshittification by IBM geniuses, and that itโ€™s going to spill over into Fedora, which I was going to try on my next system.

Going to try OpenSUSE instead I guess.

Will

@gamingonlinux I knew this was going to happen when IBM bought RedHat. IBM has a terrible track record in trying to monopolize the computing industry, even attempting to strangle it. The thing that bothers me the most is the notion RedHat is going to build itself off FOSS & advocating the exchange of ideas to putting up a fence and acting like Steve Ballmer circa 2004. What IBM has done (b/c thatโ€™s the corporate cause of this) has taken one of the sterling names in FOSS & gutted it. Sad day.

@gamingonlinux
Furthermore, RedHat has made themselves the arbiter of what constitutes 'value.' That's not how it works. Clearly the community sees plenty of value in RHEL clones. How many of them will now 'fall in line' and become paying RHEL users?

Mr. Matt

@gamingonlinux doesn't look like a lot of these are usable on Linux? Unless they work via WINE

Thomas

@gamingonlinux stop posting these because then I have to end up buying them ๐Ÿ˜

Ondล™ej Kolรญn

@gamingonlinux Does the video output work in Linux as well without installing any shady drivers/out of kernel modules?

Could you try with standard Linux distribution (or check if there are some external modules required)? ๐Ÿ™๏ธ

Damon L. Wakes

@gamingonlinux Oh, wow! From the makers of Regency Solitaire - I've been wanting to try one of the games that builds on that!

ReVeto

@gamingonlinux I bought this randomly with some spare csgo money. Did not expect a 2 hours straight first sitting. You just cant help but click next game after every run.

Hamish Dehmer

@gamingonlinux nice, been waiting for this game to update.

Tais P. Hansen

@gamingonlinux It apparently also fixes RDR2 which crashes at random under Proton 8.0 on my computer.

Sylver W. Poulsen

@gamingonlinux It also appears to have fixed Warframe not launching after the newest update, which was very welcome.
