Here’s an intermediate release of the #MartianMono typeface.

Version 1.1 Alpha brings some coding ligatures and support for languages using the extended Cyrillic script, like Chuvash, Bashkir, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tatar, and Tajik.

This early release is distributed exclusively via Dropbox to gather user feedback before we publish the font on Google Fonts and other platforms.

One of my favorite uses for ChatGPT is to “explain [the concept] like I’m nineteen.”

Compared to searching for articles about [the concept], it works amazingly. And I wonder why the entire internet is full of such messy texts.

I mean, we had to invent artificial intelligence just to explain our own texts to ourselves. Isn’t that crazy in some way?

Why not write texts that are easy to digest in the first place?

#MartianMono has been added to the Nerd Fonts library and is now available on programmingfonts.org!

Say hello to Polychrom 5!

+20 points for vividness: enhanced P3 gamut support.

+20 points for cuteness: rewarding animations.

+10 points for transparency: the blended color icon.

Additionally, we have introduced a special state if the background is not solid, improved the background search and dynamic UI theming algorithms, and implemented a few more minor fixes.

Just finished GRIS from Nomada Studio. And it was just WOW!

Whole my life I was so annoyed by video games where I constantly die and it raises my anxiety instead of giving me some rest.

Compared to that, GRIS is a breeze of fresh air. So meditative, immersive, and so beautiful.

My friends! The #Harmony color palette is now live on Product Hunt.

We’re thrilled to contribute to the community. There aren’t many products that prioritize accessibility, streamline the experiences of designers and developers, and are available for free.

It’s official: Polychrom 3.0 is here!

The new Polychrom fully supports the P3 gamut, operates seamlessly with zero latency on massive Figma documents, and handles transparent fills effortlessly.

📣 I’m reaching out to #podcast hosts and #conference organizers in Europe: if you’re looking for guest speakers, let’s have a chat!

I have three speakers available, covering a wide range of topics in design and development, including mastering icons, fonts, and design systems; adopting OKLCH and APCA; and improving product ownership and designer-developer communication.

Roman Shamin

It seems like creating custom numeric-only variable fonts for UIs is becoming a trend 🤩

We at Evil Martians developed a retro-looking segmented display typeface for our recent Polychrom plugin, and now it turns out that Apple did the same for Watch Ultra. Neat!

Just finished working on my slides for the #BitesAndBytesLisbon meetup. Here’s a title slide as a teaser 😁

#Lisbon folks, see you on Thursday, September 14th.

Let’s bring some color back to those grayish UIs!

The title slide of the presentation. It contains the title “Mastering Dynamic UI Theming for Designers” and screenshots of the Polychrom Figma plugin made by Evil Martians.

🚀 No time to explain, install #Polychrom from @evilmartians!

We’ve soft-launched the early beta of our new @Figma plugin. Its main goal is to display the contrast level and font size recommendations according to the APCA method.

figma.com/community/plugin/128

Roman Shamin

Drawing from the numerous experiments we’ve conducted within the design team I’m confident in asserting that _the perfect_ color space would be OKLCH with APCA’s _improved_ Lc in place of L.

Apca—C—H → ApcaCH.

By “improved,” I mean that the model should generate non-zero values for low-contrast combinations.

Roman Shamin

Tomorrow we’re launching our OKLCH Color Picker on Product Hunt.

For us, the whole launch is not about the Picker itself, but about the future.

Are we ready for automobiles? Or faster horses are good enough?

I’d appreciate it if you support us tomorrow. Follow the link and click ‘Notify me.’
