Eglwys Sant Bigail, Llanfigael, Ynys Môn. The church has a late Georgian interior with box pews and backless benches, and a restful green on the walls.

A rectangular window with lattice leading through which can be seen trees, a slate cross, and a stone wall. The window is recessed into phthalo green walls, the sides of the recess lighter than the facing wall on account of sunlight. The sides of two wooden box pews are visible to the left of the window and beneath it to the right.

@julianbrasington Beautiful soft light, with the hint of so many more colours in the green.

Well I might just cry. Sometimes you pull a proof away from the block for the first time and you think, 'O my, I just made something truly beautiful -- I and my heart'. I realise now there is more poetry in engraving than all the poems I have ever written.

First proof of 'Eglwys Cwyfan', engraved from pear wood and pressed with a silver spoon to Somerset Satin paper. I'll hopefully have the edition on my website next week.

A first proof of a wood engraving made on a pear wood block. In the foreground, flowers rise up in a series of waves towards the gable wall of a chapel. Little dots echo the flowers of the fore and middle-ground to create depth and lift the chapel towards the sky which itself is a series of waves.
