Red Planet was released 24 years ago today. "Astronauts, and their robotic dog AMEE, search for solutions to save a dying Earth by searching on Mars, only to have the mission go terribly awry." Whether Concord (game, 2024) is back or not (the shooter was taken offline on September 6, but a large number of updates have been applied to the game on Steam over the past two weeks), its conceptual work is simply sublime. Art by Sheng Lam, Sung Choi & Kunrong Yap: @TheSpaceshipper This looks a bit like Simon Stalenhag's (apols, about lack diacritic marks) work, the beatup 70s retro-future aesthetic always does it for me.  @TheSpaceshipper the art and design for this movie was way better than the movie deserved. Today is also the 26th anniversary of Deep Impact. Sure, it lost the box office battle against Armageddon that year, but I have a soft spot for this film. @TheSpaceshipper I have a soft spot for the two of them. Deep impact being the more grounded movie, Armageddon just for the sheer action and comedy. @TheSpaceshipper I liked it a lot better than armageddon, I always tear up at the scene on the beach towards the end @TheSpaceshipper While he's working more realistic than Discworld, it still has the same style. Like the colours, the way people are posed.
