as a black person on here: there's definitely racism on the fedi, but not everything purity leftists don't like qualifies as such.

it goes like this too often:
some person X: *does something that can be considered potentially racist under an extremely wide definition of racism*
purity leftist: that's racist
person X: I don't understand, could you explain?
purity leftist: asking is racist
person X: what should I do
purity leftist: fuck off racist *fediblocks person X*

or:
person Z: I'm very sensitive and tend to be overwhelmed by unwarned exposure to the evilness of the world, including racism. I will feel guilty about it and cry
purity leftist: asking for CWs (not wanting to have a mental breakdown) is racist

or:
purity leftist: *slanders person Y*
person Y: hey, fuck off
purity leftist: *happens to be a person of color*
purity leftist: telling me to fuck off is racist
person Y: it wasn't because of your race, it was because you slandered me
purity leftist: stop lying you racist

all these are actual cases I've witnessed in the recent past

there's a massive chilling effect, I've seen various private posts from mutuals who're concerned about getting cancelled if they speak out.

purity leftists are basically the real life representation of how rightwing shitheads imagine "woke" leftists, and purity leftists also seem to be the most vocal leftists.

to any purity leftists reading this: stop looking at people in a binary of "perfect" or "evil" and stop enforcing your self-expectation of perfection to others
