I tested changing the username of a Mostr account. It does successfully change on Mastodon and all the posts and stuff are preserved. But then it didn't display any new posts from that account until I switched the username back. Pleroma of course worked fine.
Alright, I figured out the Mostr bridge issue. I fucked up webfinger. Now give it another 24 hrs to fetch again and it should be fixed on Mastodon.
Can anyone with a Mastodon server help me debug why profiles from mostr.pub aren't updating after I changed the RSA keys? It should reftech after 24 hours but isn't. Need somebody to `journalctl -u mastodon-web | grep mostr` probably.

There may be intermittent federation issues while servers fetch the updated actor for these users. But guess what, the performance is 10x I spent an entire week on this shit initially, and created this slow and terrible library that probably isn't secure: https://gitlab.com/soapbox-pub/seeded-rsa
Doing it the easy way instead takes 1 hour and you don't have to deal with any of this shit. I wish I had thought of it before. There are two ways to scale, 1) throw money at the problem, 2) change the code until it's faster.
This solution avoided having to upgrade to a more powerful server, saving money and resources. The best way to scale. Mastodon is literally destroying the planet. |
