The "new" top navbar is also completely baffling. You've got big wide space and thumbs on the sides, so Apple decides to move the navigation to the top where it's always awkward to reach.
Where it would make sense - portrait orientation - it's not available.

Some apps allow you to switch between sidebar and top bar, some don't, in some it's customizable, in most it's not. This is probably a beta thing but overall again, the design is completely baffling.
