@kcarruthers This encapsulates a number of reason why I don't own many "smart" devices and disable all the alexas an bixbys and whatever else they call their monitors... @kcarruthers @internetofshit there's not a single good technical reason why smart home devices have to rely on remote servers for anything at all. Want to control the thing from outside of your home network? Get a static IP or use a dynamic DNS service, problem solved.

@kcarruthers I enjoy how the initial post simply recounts what Elon is doing, without saying it's bad. This susanbrill-person reads it, realizes it sounds bad, because it objectively is, and then goes on to call the poster a hater. So, in her troubled mind, if you hear anything bad about Elon, you have to immediately jump through several mental hoops to find an excuse for that, otherwise you're a hater. Withering words from one of the world's biggest battery and #EV manufacturers, China's BYD, on why it's not planning to locate any factories in the UK: "after #Brexit, we don’t understand what happened... Even on the long list we didn’t have the #UK.” Via Ed Conway https://www.ft.com/content/a38acb75-23ab-4eae-b5c3-d4e880748986 |
@kcarruthers trying to see what he is talking about in the way back machine but it's not obvious to me. Can't anyone find what is missing and screenshot it?
@kcarruthers Do you mean this action was politically motivated?
@kcarruthers this is an example of why @internetarchive is so damned important.
