Visiting my former company in Italy. There's a new microkitchen with pixel art entirely made of 3.5" disks 💾 These La Marzocco espresso machines are spreading everywhere in the US. I already knew they were made in Florence, and now I know who's writing the firmware! Kawagoe (川越市) is a pretty town in Saitama, know as Little Edo due to its historic buildings. I'm here to see some old friends. The registration procedure is the typical mess of Japanese government apps, going back and forth between app and website, long instruction screens, countdown timers, unreasonably strict form validation, email confirmation that doesn't work... And there's even this interstitial for an upcoming website that prevents me from reading the instructions and can't be dismissed (Close is not really a link, wtf...) Yūko Okonogi's name is spelled 優子, with the same kanji of 優しい (yasashii) = kind or gentle.
Her nickname uses this alternate reading of 優, turning Yūko in to Yasako.
