Naked Mole Rat

Australian photographer Bill Henson is sometimes controversial, because he frequently photographs nude teenagers. I guess a few of those photos are a bit edgy. The majority of his photos are benign portraits of humans in a confusing transitional period in their lives. A lot of mixed physical and emotional feelings.

I'm not overly fond of his images. Most of them are too underexposed. Here are five that I kind of like.

A short distance behind her and slightly out of focus is a nude teenage boy. He is facing in our direction. The photo is cropped so we can only see from his head to the top of his pubic hair. The photo is perfectly ambiguous yet tense with this cropping. The girl's expression is ambiguous. Is she asking for our opinion, or is she trying to conceal her decision? Should she leave, or should she stay and let nature take its course?

Two smaller images. I couldn't find them in bigger sizes, so I'm presenting them together. The photo on the left is an overhead view of a slim, nude teenage boy lying on his back on a couch. We can see from the top of his head to his knees. His head is pointing to the right. He is probably asleep. The photo on the right is of a nude teenage girl. She is standing and facing us, but her head is pointing down and looking at something in her hands. The photo stops right above her knees. Her breasts are just starting to develop.
