365 days at South Pole station, about a week left to go. We spent the day training the new winterover crew and posing for Radio Telescope Men Quarterly. Some aircraft visitors from last austral summer. Looking forward to seeing them again soon! Pretty incredible to be in a place where "golden hour" lasts for a couple weeks...

A pastor is trying to get a bunch of Flat Earthers to come to Antarctica to see the 24-hour sun to prove the Earth isn't flat. The Ceremonial South Pole, with a striped pole with a sphere at the top as the marker, surrounded by the flags of the countries that signed the Antarctic Treaty, planted in the snow. The Sun is visible just above the the horizon, behind the monument, in a clear sky. It looks very calm and majestic. @kevzag the tub of vanilla ice cream at the back of my fridge after it's left alone long enough to develop a culture

The sun is peeking in! What a crazy and impressive landscape though. It’s really its own thing. In case anyone is curious about life on South Pole, here's a blog of another guy who spent more than a year there: brr.fyi |
@kevzag
would be great if you could provide an alt-text for the goosebumps inducing picture. 😀
@kevzag This is quarterly now? Do I have to pay four times as much? Asking for a friend
@kevzag how do I subscribe to radio telescope men quarterly? 😅
