Companies need to realize something. When people voice privacy concerns it's almost never for technical reasons. It's because they don't trust you. Stop trying to make people understand and fix that problem first.

Oh boy... you are spot on, people are not trusting these companies. Microsoft in particular keeps proving again and again that they are incapable of keeping their data safe.
All these features wouldn't be so bad if they were disabled by default and strictly opt-in, but usually something like this gets enabled by default and MAYBE you can disable it with a registry key or something, until the next update turns it on again.
