Couldn't agree more. To be honest, I still haven't seen any legitimate use cases for generative AI. All they have done with it so far is ruin search engines and make it much easier to spread misinformation and disinformation. AI is much more useful when trained to do one very specific thing really well. To me this all just feels like Web3 hype all over again.

@harrymccracken I once asked Bing Bot for a list of books on a given subject. I then have it back the list, asking which ones exist. One of them it said it didnโ€™t exist, with, as references to support its answer, the Amazon and GoodReads pages for the book in question.

@harrymccracken I know it's not your fault, but I had trouble reading through the article with that uncloseable and un pauseable auto-playing video that remains at the bottom of the screen. It can be made smaller but it continues to play which to me is very distracting.
