Carrot in Romance Languages: The first mention of this root is from the 1st century AD as "pastinaca", the ancestor of the Catalan "pastanaga." French and Italian adopted it from the Latin "carōta", itself borrowed from the Ancient Greek “καρῶτον” (karôton). In contrast, Spanish and Portuguese use the term derived from the Arabic "sfanariyya," which also has Greek origins in "σταφυλίνη ἀγρία" (staphulínē agría). Romanian "morcov" comes from the Slavic root "mъrky."

Prague is full of student demonstrations against war and occupation. Nazis then closed Czech universities and send plenty of students into concentration camps. Some were executed.
