Well, yes, there is 2x more work, but having the latest kernel and user land, and almost no blobs will benefit. In the worst case, it's possible to copy and paste missing stuff from older vendor kernel

it's very rare when I have to fix something in the driver, it's quite common when I have to write one myself but all the bugs with usual stuff is just incorrect info in dts: wrong ports, regs, clocks...

Bought new GPU today and canceled order in a few hours.

I don't know why I need fast GPU, I don't play heavy games on PC anymore and don't care about AI that much.
