Remember when computers used to just do what you told them to and not actively try to prevent you from doing it or try to make you do something else instead? We’ve lost so much agency over our technology along the way. It’s been watching us from the box art for a long time, but today was finally the day we started building our Lego Tuxedo Cat. And there’s still plenty of today left – let’s see how far we get. Not sure if this yet counts as #caturday 😅 This is what terrifies me about switching away from Apple platforms if the company decides go through with running them to the ground with their iron fist. From everything I’ve seen, the high-quality, crafted app experiences either are rare or just don’t exist out there, depending on what you’re after. @tuomas_h @samhenrigold Almost looks like nice untapped app sales potential for capable iOS developers with stylistic talent 🤔 |
@tuomas_h "Would you like to rate this app?" 😖 😖 😖
@tuomas_h after more than 30 years in a technology-focused career, as I near retirement I will be spending increasing effort to make my computer experience more like you describe. No autocomplete, no “by the way”, no training wheels, and by Zeus, no “AI”. I see much retro computing ahead.
@tuomas_h One of the big reasons I prefer Linux as my daily driver.
