The #Nitter project has been abandoned.

In view.matrix.org/room/!PclMnsCN and github.com/zedeus/nitter/issue the maintainer claims that #Twitter/ #X has removed the ability to request new guest accounts. This means that other projects like #BirdMakeup are living on borrowed time right now.

Of course, the projects can still, in theory, use real Twitter accounts, but the reliability is unclear (a cat & mouse chase) while exposing account/instance owners to legal repercussions (due to ToS).

@austin looks like twitter has turned into instagram where i can’t see anyone’s stuff there anymore
sucks that so many years of good content were lost because of one idiot who has no clue what he’s doing

@austin I guess this also finishes off the last third party Twitter clients, like Squawker, which survived by focusing on what was possible without logging in.
