@chad I always used to make jokes about the low 50s (F) in the SF/Bay Area as "nipple awareness weather". Especially with the tourists that would visit in the summer, freeze their patooties off, and end up buying a SF 49ers Wind breaker at Fisherman's Wharf.

But the fact that "Spit goes clink" temperatures exists out in the open atmosphere rather than in a lab is kinda freaky.

@mvilain When I was a kid, we went to Disneyland and stayed in Anaheim. We went down to the pool and were enjoying the sun but curiously, we were the only ones there!

Someone came out and asked us if we were Canadian. Said yes and they said, "oh, this makes sense now."

It was February and about 12C/54F out. 😆

@chad We had neighbors from Czechoslovakia move in down the block in the San Fernando Valley. Their kids would be outside playing in t-shirts and shorts when the weather would warm up to mid-50s (F) after a cold spell of low 40s.

@mvilain It's amazing how we can get conditioned. 5C/41F in October is freaking cold, but 5C in April/May and I'm out in a t-shirt. 😆

@mvilain @chad in Czechia, you still can find somebody in quite summer outfit in winter.

@chad @mvilain This works the other way around as well. When we went to Scotland in summer (from southern Italy where we live) the first night, straight from the plane, the girl at the hotel reception complained to us that is wat too hot for the wedding that was going on there. It was 23°C / 74°F outside.
