Some extremely exciting news: Google Fonts is funding four developers from the open source community to work on Rust UI in 2024. Goals include demonstrating extremely high performance, using Vello for GPU-accelerated 2D rendering, and a port to Android.

All the work is in the open, and we look forward to working with others in the Rust UI ecosystem.

@raph Just from reading the crate names, I get the impression that there is/was an Esperanto speaker on the Linebender team. Is my observation correct, or am I mistaken?

@lixou We'll be working on it, and thanks for the feedback! The current state of Vello is not yet ready for production, but it's absolutely a priority, and good documentation and examples are a major part of that.
