The ideal solution to the problem.

A photo of a keyboard with left and right arrow keys either side of a single scroll wheel acting as the up and down arrow keys. Genius.

@NanoRaptor You could also try a BlackBerry-style optical touchpad.

@NanoRaptor On the other hand, scroll far enough with the middle finger while keeping the others on the side keys and you end up with... 🖕🤣

First, TAKE MY MONEY.
Second, to the folk suggesting a touch pad is basically the same thing, why do you hate Jesus?

@TheGreatLlama @NanoRaptor i mean it would be pretty nice if arrow keys also had multitouch, or better yet the home end cluster. ofc emphasis on also not instead

@NanoRaptor I understand why they ended up shipping the tiny roller-ball-style "360 scroll ball" thing they already had on the mouse, but honestly I was always partial to the above design concept.

DELETED

@NanoRaptor this does remind me that I'm still happy to own an IBM Model M keyboard with a built in trackball.

keyboard showing a smallish trackball built in above the 'lock' LED status area, and eight buttons
the ball is bigger than what you'd find on a laptop

@NanoRaptor And why not a full scroll wheel!? I don't know why Apple hasn't tried it yet!

@NanoRaptor could use some help from tesla — two rollers with left-right axis, but one for scrolling up & down, while the other for scrolling to sides
