closeup of the tact switch snap dome. the dark areas are probably non-conductive metal oxides created by fretting. fretting corrosion happens when oxide layers build up between metals that "fret" or move by microscopic amounts. @tubetime that looks very like the contacts on my Apple MacBook Pro with the notorious butterfly keyboard.
