Finished off my year on a good note. Time to kick back and enjoy a bit of a break so I can go into 2024 fresh.

If you want to know what we've been up to with NVK and what I've got on the docket for 2024, I blogged about it today. Check out the @collabora blog: col.la/nvkhu

Gotta say, it's fun seeing everything come together like this. I've spent a long time building and now we're getting to the fun part where features are landing like crazy, games are ruining, and we make *something* at least 10% faster about every week. It's a good time! 😁

@gfxstrand I'm really excited about NVK. My main reason for avoiding NVIDIA cards in general has been their driver situation on Linux, and I feel as though the work by you and all the other Nouveau and NVK developers may finally bring NVIDIA cards to the table for me!

@serebit @gfxstrand Same, I'm also super excited to see NVK land in distros. I avoid NVIDIA cards on desktop but they're largely inescapable on gaming laptops, so I am excited to try NVK on my laptop's RTX3070 (Razer Blade 14 2021). The proprietary driver has some major longstanding issues with frame tearing even with vsync on when offloading rendering to the NVIDIA GPU.

@CalcProgrammer1 @serebit Be warned that we're seeing some issues with PRIME setups right now (as most NVIDIA laptops are). It's some sort of a bad interaction between nouveau and i915. I think the Red Hat folks are looking into it but it may be rocky for a bit. Hopefully we'll get all that sorted before it hits distros, though.

@gfxstrand @collabora "I've already been talking with some of the Red Hat folks and we're currently hoping to ship NVK in Fedora 40."

The progress of NVK has been an absolute joy to watch. Being able to peek behind the curtains of how this project is being done is incredibly fascinating and I thank you for the regular and in-depth posts on the topic.
I hope you have a great and relaxing end of the year!
Can't wait to see more updates in the future.
