@fantazo @davidak
I feel you. This past summer I quit my job because of burnout. I decided I'd rather live off of savings rather than keep doing what I was doing.
Since then I've played lots of games, and now I'm learing Unreal Engine and hoping to jump into games programming myself. Also, my sleep schedule has gone from highly erratic and unreliable to a steady 8am to 10pm with no need for naps, and I'm getting a lot more done.
Burnout is real, but you can recover from it.
@ErisCaffee @davidak Running from savings, well that's an option. If someone is privileged enough that can be done for months and years. The somewhat better european needs to regularly visit his labor office and get depressed by that institution. I despise that stuff, one reason I don't do it.
Going into the game industry is not the best idea if it comes to burnout. The work conditions there are especially toxic.
Everybody get's more done, when the brakes are not constantly on.
