Are Warner Bros on Mastodon? 😁 Someone uploaded this two-minute crew video which features a lot of wonderful behind-the-scenes material from Coyote Vs Acme. This is what $70m can get you. The designs are great and so much work went into this.

This video has been published on X and YouTube but Warner Bros are taking it down wherever they find it.

@UKFilmNerd I hope the guy with the pig (Porky?) on a stick is credited as "Pig On Stick Guy"

@UKFilmNerd The "destroying art to increase profits" tax optimisation disgusts me

@krans @UKFilmNerd I'm reminded of rich, decadent liggers in the 1920s, jumping into fountains and ruining their expensive dresses because, fuck it, we can buy a new one anyone.

Thank you for sharing! 🙏

Even if they were on Mastodon, there are thousands of independent servers on here so they'd have a bit of a headache trying to chase it away if it kept getting reposted elsewhere, especially on servers hosted in jurisdictions distant to them.

The IRS should require any copyright used as a right off to be sent to the Library of Congress and put into the public domain.

This current system is a tax scam.

@UKFilmNerd we need this film to get leaked. Zaslav can eat shit and die, not necessarily in that order.

Whar

@UKFilmNerd why would you make a film and never release it?

I don't how how taxes work in the US film industry and my mind can't work around an answer to that question.

@Whar From what I understand, I don't know taxes either, the film cost $70m to make. WB finances are apparently not very good this quarter and despite high test scores, they didn't want to risk further money by releasing this film. That incurs distribution and promoting costs.

By shelving the film as a tax write-off, WB get $30m back in cash but the movie can now never be released. If it was, I think WB then have to pay the money back.

At least the crew get a screening this week.

Ants Are Everywhere

@UKFilmNerd all of that was cool, but for some reason I really loved the time lapses of the sets coming together. Please tell me this is a whole genre. 😋

@UKFilmNerd Odd that they're taking it down... All I see is creative people working hard to make a movie that now is on my radar...

@VeloBusDriver Maybe something weird, like everything they're making is owned by WB?

Heh, most of it reads as "movie behind the scenes" but there are chunks of it that read "tech startup setting up new office" (which I suppose is just that they Nailed It as far as Acme goes :)
