@pearlbear Am on my third email notice of expiration date. :) I'm going to let it go I think. <grin> I was thinking of giving it as a gift to a relative (same name) but decided I was just passing on the problem. :) :) :)

@pearlbear I let the .org and .net expire and kept the .com I was actually using.

@pearlbear @oliphant on some level, I just don’t want donain squatters to have it

Who even IS Gordo!?
@gemini6ice @pearlbear @oliphant Strongly in favour of this logic.

It was different back in the day when your average domain squatter was an opportunistic single human with some disposable income, and they might ask $1000 but you could counter offer $150 and seal the deal. Now you have operations like Hugedomains who don't mind sitting on 1000 domains indefinitely knowing that someone will pay the obscene asking prices for a small percentage of them.

I hope Hugedomains steps on some Legos, preferably right at the top of a flight of stairs.

DELETED

@pearlbear

I have 30 of them.

I'm not necessarily attacked as I am vulnerable to ideas.

@pearlbear I wish there was a way to have "permanent" domains. For example, .onion hostnames on #Tor and #IPNS identifiers on #IPFS.

@pearlbear gotta keep the email forwarding just a bit longer

@pearlbear @brainwagon Heh.. nah. just this year I started using two domains out of the 40 I have for active projects.. domains that I first reserved over 10 years ago.. so obviously it was worth it!!
