@trib yeah we don't get such good prices when it's rainy, unless it is also blowing a gale. In fact this is the highest I've ever seen though I think last week it went higher when I wasn't looking!

@trib I do wish the app had the option to alert for low prices though, not just high!

@trib update: we were out from 1-4pm, and when I left the power had gone back down to the usual 5cish range so I didn't add any extra load, but then got grumpy this morning discovering it actually went down to -32c in the afternoon, while my EV was not charging. I would have turned on the aircon if I'd known it would go that low.

@kudra jeebus. I rarely see ours below 15c. I definitely need to prioritise the replacement of the cruddy 3kW the previous owners put in and get the 12kW plus battery we have a quote for.

@trib yup, I I really don't know why the Victorian market is so volatile!

@kudra I'm thinking about getting a battery. Fully electric house (EV, Induction cooktop, Heat pump)
The payback period seems too long to me for a battery, even with Amber's pricing.
Are you prepared to share your thoughts on this?

@andrijson Yeah, I have considered a battery too but even with the previous rebate in Vic (about $3000) and current interest free loan (about $8000) it still feels like it is too slow to payback, though if you automated a lot it could potentially earn quite well when FITs are high. I like the idea of battery more as backup as where I am blackouts are relatively common. But I am still on the fence!
