@golgaloth This is great!

Doing nothing, is doing something. We're so quick to define what we see initially, we miss out on the bigger picture.

@golgaloth - I don't need to contribute, somebody else will do it for me.

- I deserve the output of other people's work, because I exist and I want it.

-My happiness is more important than everyone else.

-I don't owe society anything, because it's not perfect.

@your_huckleberry @golgaloth , society functioned long before capitalism and yes, if you're a miserable sod you're not going to have too many happy people around you, no?

@Antigrav Smith invented capitalism the same way that Newton invented gravity. Capitalism and society are inextricably linked. That's why accounting was invented in Mesopotamia not long after agriculture.

The notion that aboriginal peoples didn't have economies or systems of governance comes from the writings of colonizers who saw the native people as savages without sophistication. Colonizers who had a vested interest in perpetuating the offensive "noble savage" myth.

@your_huckleberry , I believe that before capitalism, as we know it today -
one that is rapidly spiraling out of control by syphoning existential needs from the bottom majority to the frivolity laden top few -
we had a sustainable version based on trading...
I should have made that differentiation in my earlier comment.

@Antigrav yeah, that's point 4 in The World Owes Me a living manifesto.

@golgaloth

I'm not a fan of capitalism.

I just don't see the point in complaining when there isn't anything else around that works.

Steffi the Redhead

@golgaloth you have just seen it. Having a hobby is not capitalist if you get no money out of it.

And if you go to your local water provider you will again witness something not capitalist.

Happy to broaden your horizon.🥰😘

@golgaloth

Sigh, if only I was able to live by this creed, but the apartment complex wants their rent money on time.

@kinyutaka @golgaloth Yeah that’s it, isn’t it? This list is nice in theory, but unless you live in some special community with its own laws, you still gotta make ends meet. Or, you can live by this list anywhere, but odds are you’ll end up homeless or a burden to other members of your community/family. “Has Bobby pitched in for groceries today?” “No, he was too busy doing nothing.” Hey, I do nothing too, AFTER I pay my bills on time.

@golgaloth It's beautiful and correct. If I could add one more bullet point, it would be this:

* Wealth isn't virtue.

@golgaloth It's a reply guy honey trap!

I put in just enough effort at work, I came home, now I'm going to sit in an old armchair and eat stewed apples.

PointlessOne :loading:

@golgaloth I wanted to find the source of these but found something else.

Abe the Honest

@golgaloth i would replace beautiful for valuable in the first phrase. Capitalism doesn't care for beauty, only for its monetary price. Otherwise excellent

@golgaloth great post!

Relevant for a lot of underprivileged demographics too with the added bonus of attracting a certain type of social media user **cough*conformists*cough**, ripe for the blocking.

@golgaloth This is wonderful, thank you for sharing it. And is that a dyslexia-friendly font?

Anyway, cheers!

- if you like #cannabis, grow your own weed.
- if you like #psychedelics, grow your own shrooms.
- if neighbors and friends aren't capable of growing them, share yours freely.
- don't consume drugs to be more productive. use them to spend more time for yourself.

@golgaloth I... hm. I get what they're going for about "real jobs", but I have to say I feel that potato farmer is more of a real job than high frequency trader, or SEO optimizer. (This might be the opposite judgement in the eyes of the people who would actually *use* that phrase, though.)
