I agree with your article, but every time someone says this, I cringe:

The only one of those that is federated is Mastodon. Bluesky and Meta are not federated, full stop. That's vaporware. I frankly don't believe they will ever federate in any meaningful way, but certainly the onus is on them to prove it by doing it. Instead, journalists keep just taking their press releases at their word.
