Gregory's Server@elipariser so given what NewPublic is all about, I was expecting a #fediverse follow link on https://newpublic.org, but no such luck. Just the usual overlords in the cloud there. What would it take to make that happen?

@elipariser you ran into the self-appointed fediverse police? Imho one of the beauties of the Fediverse is that it allows peaceful coexistence, of people and orgs and servers and apps of very different belief systems. We should have more diversity in the fediverse, not less! So I’d like to encourage you to revisit this. If the BBC can be in the fediverse, so can and should NewPublic! @J12t agree with you-we are just trying to be respectful of the norms here as we were getting acquainted.  @J12t @elipariser absolutely! My favourite organizational accounts boost the posts of staff, which lets people express interest in the activity of the org while still having a human voice. @J12t @elipariser Ok, you convinced us! We've been meaning to do this for a while and now we're on Mastodon too. |
@J12t there’s a long story there—we were going to have a handle here, then got guidance that organizational handles were generally looked poorly upon, and didn’t. But I think that guidance was wrong or out of date.
