@tubetime now put a 8TB M.2 NVMe next to it and imagine that old SSD talking like a 80yr old grandma amd saying "I'm so proud of you, my granddaughter" to that SSD... @tubetime Plus, that looks like a clear plastic housing over the platters in that photo @tubetime the drive cover is actually transparent, I love seeing these things! UsagiElectric shows some CD drives off in the Centurion computers he's restoring @tubetime Good heavens. I still have to maintain a legacy machine IRL that has one of these as its main backing store. The OS is so old that the disk has to be repaired with a disk editor that requires you to do all the calculations yourself and then tell it what to write to the disk, where. @tubetime @wawik Can’t remember if this is reviving a Finch or a Wren but Usagi Electric does a lot of really old mini and larger computer restoration. https://youtu.be/hbc6n3Ln3bM?si=baaNzTLUGhBgd-zg @tubetime - where exactly was the spot where you would tap them in case of stuck heads? |
