A sign of DisplayPort over USB-C (external display) working with the kernel on the recently launched 5!

This wouldn't have been possible without the great work done by all the people contributing to Linux and this SoC, especially the amazing people at Linaro!

@z3ntu It's incredible how much support this device is getting.

You have a lot of community goodwill @Fairphone, don't waste it!

@z3ntu
Nice! Does the atypical choice of SoC help with mainline Linux support?

Luca Weiss

@nicorikken Not necessarily, it's a bit of a happy coincidence that there has been quite a bit of work done for the SC7280 SoC which seemed to have been planned to be used in ChromeOS devices, and the QCM6490 SoC used in Fairphone 5 is from software side practically the same SoC.

But the same situation would also apply for any phone using SM7325 (Snapdragon 778G).

@z3ntu @nicorikken is the fair phone from a legit company? I heard of a company being some type of scame with not refunding people their money and not shipping out their orders.

@Privatepower42 @nicorikken I believe you're mistaking Fairphone with a different company. You can check out for example our TrustPilot page if you're not convinced :)

Also if you order the Fairphone 5 now on the webshop, it's currently about a month delivery time but the phone only came out recently so that's expected.

@z3ntu If this phone is available in the US it may very well be my next phone! I love my OnePlus 6T with postmarketOS but from what I've read it doesn't have the hardware for display output.
