@campuscodi what would you recommend? Is Edge good enough?

@dvladar @campuscodi since it switched to Chromium, Edge has been a great browser; it's less resource intensive and better with privacy than Chrome (low bar), but with Microsoft's push into AI and doubling down on cloud services I have my doubts as to how long it will stay that way. For me it also seems more stable than Firefox, but as always with stability YMMV. @bitflipped @dvladar @campuscodi configure Edge to use an intercepting proxy and watch just how much it’s phoning home (and beyond) before you’ve even browsed to a site or typed a word. I use it at work, and it’s fine, but it’s not Chrome minus the privacy concerns. @fordy8k @dvladar @campuscodi I didn't say it's got no privacy concerns. As I said in my original reply, Chrome sets a low bar. Edge simply improves on surface level privacy such as supporting adblocking out of the box to an extent. @bitflipped @fordy8k @dvladar @campuscodi If you care about privacy at all, you should consider using either Vivaldi (chrome-based), Firefox (gecko-based), or if you must Brave, but using Edge, a browser literally watching your every move by Microsoft. @scottytrees @fordy8k @dvladar @campuscodi my moves are relatively uninteresting, and when I'm using Windows & Edge a lot of the sites I visit are operated by Microsoft anyway. @fordy8k @bitflipped @dvladar @campuscodi Edge still has privacy issues, but Microsoft's business model is not entirely "sell your data" like Google. I am not sure you can ever really get 100% away from privacy issues. @jared well, yes. But in all honesty, I consider FF as nuclear option and Edge as something in between - that's why I was asking ;D @campuscodi @dvladar @campuscodi curious why you consider it the nuclear option? Is edge or chrome doing something Firefox can't? @jared actually, Edge is tied to my MS account and being installed on mobile devices (with that same account). With FF I have to have a new, separate account for syncing. Also, no offline extensions for gSuite. @campuscodi @dvladar @jared @campuscodi Vivaldi is really good. I test it with all the sites since circa 3 weeks, and after a few tweaks it just works. |
@dvladar @campuscodi That's funny
