Good news for US mappers! We've added a new tile render server in the US. Big thanks to OregonState OpenSource Lab (OSUOSL) @osuosl for hosting it (and other OSM servers since 2011!) Thank you, also, AWS Cloud for the credits.

#OSM's senior SRE, @Firefishy, tells us that the new server was required because we were running out of capacity in the US. It will be used for renderings/updating the default map style used on https://osm.org. Here are the hardware specs: <https://hardware.openstreetmap.org/servers/piasa.openstreetmap.org/> |
The new #OpenStreetMap server's name is Piasa, because the OSMF names its servers for dragons, because “there be dragons”. <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piasa> Piasa cost the OSMF €3,846.
