Oh man. I have to remind myself that I actually read an entire book on that little greenish screen once or twice back in the day.

@jeroen @mainframed767 not quite that fancy πŸ˜…. Uses a hotsync conduit

Martim

@knickish that screen brought back memories! @hboon

@knickish How much time is it spending decrypting TLS, decompressing gzip/brotli and parsing JSON? πŸ˜†

mabs

@knickish Ooo, how to get it going with a j-pilot conduit...

knickish

@mabs I only use the normal hotsync for now. You could make a PR for github.com/knickish/hotsync_co to add support for j-pilot if you're so inclined (or wait for me to get there eventually). The code is also all open source if you want to just rip out the download code at github.com/knickish/heffalump_ and put that in a j-pilot conduit instead

@knickish I'll have to have a dig into it all, maybe see if I can get something to package up the pdbs in the right format in Linux. Great idea though.

@knickish Such a great name choice!

This got me thinking, if one were to write a #NewtonOS #Mastodon client for #Apple #Newton #MessagePad, what could we possibly call it? A little digging later and I think 'Andrias' (after the genus containing large, prehistoric salamanders) would be most appropriate:
