 Unity had to close offices due to credible threats. Super disgusting. There is absolutely no need to send threats of any kind to the team at Unity. I get it, what Unity are trying to do is super unpopular but this is just uncalled for and helps absolutely no one, and only likely delays any improvements to their plan. Be better. 9 comments
@gamingonlinux Last few weeks there's been a lot of this kind of stupid behaviour. DHH with the Turbo's TypeScript thing, Node.js' performance team lead (that now is leaving) with the Bun 1.0 and now this... @gamingonlinux Death threats are bad and should not be tolerated, but this shouldn't be framed as representative of the people who are mad at Unity. It takes one weird asshole to make a death threat, and you don't have to prove you're sincere before you do it. We should resist the urge to allow this kind of tactic to be treated as legitimate expression in any debate, unless the debate itself is about terrorist violence (i.e. when Nazis make death threats, it's ok to blame of Nazi ideology) @gamingonlinux While I agree, the only possible improvement they could make to their plan is to go back in time and slap themselves before they ever thought it might be a good idea.  @gamingonlinux There will always be unhinged people out there sending threats over something they don't like, there always have been. Social media and the instant availability of information by way of the internet compound the issue, certainly not helped by the hyperpolarization of people by (big tech) social media.  |

@gamingonlinux you make them go out of business by not using their products and using and supporting alternatives (preferably opensource), not by trying to make them (better, their workers) close their offices for fear of being murdered...
