Mastodon isn't too bad but there's much less activity and difficult to find good people to follow. @MichaelBishop @JamesGleick A great decision! Over here you just have to follow people, more and more people, since this site doesn’t push content to you. But it’s worth it, I’m following around 400 people and I already have to make different feeds for different folks. @milesizdead @MichaelBishop @JamesGleick Yep all good advice. Follow everybody you don’t get offended by and every hashtag that piques your interest. Works for me. My feed is overflowing these days. I’m stating to think I need to start using groups or something, but otherwise having a great time now. Took a little while to really get going. Right but the thing to keep in mind is it will certainly change over time. It’s already orders of magnitude better than it was last year and with Mush running Twitter into the ground it will only improve even more.  @JamesGleick Have read a lot of these Mastodon testimonials, and this is one of the best. Great explainer! @JamesGleick Spot on. The creators complaining about "missing" features here don't seem to realise this is the point. When one joins in and actively participates it works well, but they want an algorithmic megaphone. @JamesGleick I’m in the process of leaving (deleting or just leaving, undecided) and the amount of follows that are here is shockingly low. Granted, most of them don’t follow me, but it’s the mutuals I want on mastodon the most. This should be helpful, thanks.  @JamesGleick If someone is still on Twitter, it doesn't mean they are a Fascist Bigoted Nazi. It just means that Fascist Bigoted Nazis aren't a deal breaker for them.
