The Daily Beast is reporting that Elon Musk ordered engineers to switch off his Starlink satellites just as Ukraine was preparing to attack the Russian naval fleet with drones. He said he feared nuclear retaliation by Russia. It’s high time we ask the question: How much power and influence does it make sense to hand just one person?

Musk must be forced to sell his stake in Space X and Starlink. His now shown ability and desire to serve Russian interests must be seen as a threat to US National security. These companies are far more important than Twitter and hold far more dangerous consequences. Musk can no longer be trusted with these resources and must be investigated.

@georgetakei Musk is a raging dipshit that can't figure out his ass from his face, so I'm fairly certain that even if he tried to pull that nonsense, it wouldn't stop anything either way.

Seriously, they just need to shoot themselves into space and leave the rest of earth alone.

@georgetakei someone may have already pointed it out, but that act is aiding an enemy of the United States and thusly an act of treason.

@georgetakei Musk’s company provided comms and when he didn’t like an element of Ukraine’s war strategy, he unilaterally vetoed it by shutting down those comms. This is absolute madness.

An agreement signed with #ElonMusk in #Beijing on 30 May 2023 for the supply of #Samarium , a #RareEarthElement essential for #Space #Communications , has prompted People's Republic of #China Ministry of Natural Resources to redraw its Standard Map to include a large part of #Malaysia territorial waters near #Sabah and #Sarawak , whose seabed contains abundant deposits of #Samarium .

@georgetakei he was probably asked to do so. Ukraine being in a pure defender position is a best case scenario for mobilizing resources in other countries; that shouldn't change if possible. Delegating the choice on paper to Musk is useful to dismiss attention from population strata that might not share the same view.

@georgetakei
What he meant to say was that he and russia were preparing to retaliate with nukes. He is part of the russian special military operation.

Free people of the world be ware of what musk and others in his Klan are up to, incrementally eroding our rights and our quality of life and standard of living, reducing us to something like third world developing status, stealing what he have and have had all along for generations. Time to wake up.

@georgetakei
Keep in mind what happened in Spain (and Chile and Brazil and Argentina) when the civil war started. It was the leftist republicans, the people of Spain and the nationalist fascists under the autocratic dictatorship of franco and his Klan. That is what you get when you let autocracy take hole. Never forget that. Time to wake up.

Elon Musk secretly ordered his engineers to turn off his company’s Starlink satellite communications network near the Crimean coast last year to disrupt a Ukrainian sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet, according to an excerpt adapted from Walter Isaacson’s new biography of the billionaire titled “Elon Musk.”

As Ukrainian submarine drones strapped with explosives approached the Russian fleet, they “lost connectivity and washed ashore harmlessly,” Isaacson writes.

@georgetakei The most disturbing part of this story is that Starlink engineers were willing to follow this order. I'm pretty sure I would have refused, and counted on being able to get a new job pretty easily.

@georgetakei he is dumb as shit who wants validation and kremlin successfully exploits that. However I feel story is much simpler than that. It was during that time kremlin was trying to paint that picture that any additional help to Ukraine will be seen as escalation. After delivery of tanks and F16 anyone will half a cell recognise it as very rough but very effective bluff against stupid. But I do not think he was alone in such thinking.
Overall though he cannot have such power. No man can.

@georgetakei you'd think that there should maybe be consequences for single handedly undermining foreign policy like that

@georgetakei he did a similair thing to bitcoin. Whilst the two are not comparable. He causes some major geo political issues.
