Sorry, not going to happen before we have a single OSM app that has worldwide traffic data and (live) public transport support.

@etua_en Why worldwide? You can download separate maps and layers for the countries you are visiting. There are OSM communities in a lot of countries providing them. Why carrying the data of the whole word with you? For live public transport, there are some good apps which often use OSM. Why should OSM do that? You ever used OSM?

Worldwide traffic and transit data is kind of a tall order isn't it?

bignose

So what that implies @etua_en, is that we need to use #Antitrust law to forcibly break up Google and release their chokehold on all that data which rightly belongs to everyone, so anyone can make #FreeSoftware to use that #PublicDomain data on an equal playing field.

I'm on with that agenda, let's go.

@smallcircles

will talk for elePHPants!

@etua_en @smallcircles Google maps is so much more than a map. It's a compendium of near realtime user-rated information of where to eat, where to go, what's interesting, how to get from a to b avoiding congestions or by public transport, etc etc.

For the maps part: Theres already #OsmAnd.

The part currently not available is the one place to go for the other stuff. That is not google.
