Normally one wouldn't really encounter this because you just copy a complete url.
But this happens to me rather often when I copy my tweets over to Mastodon. Even though twitter often shows a shortened url, when you copy it it gets reassembled with "https://". Whats never added back though is the "www." even if the original url contained it...
As we've all learned by now, the network formerly known as Twitter thinks rules and conventions are for everyone else. As does it's current owner, apparently.
