@gamingonlinux Heya Liam, thanks for the write up! On the "new distro" thing, it's not that.

This is a relatively new technique to the Linux desktop of layering custom changes onto an existing Fedora image.

You can always throw away those customizations and boot into a pristine upstream Fedora image. (or any other image for that matter).

So it's applying a config on top of Fedoa. This is an important distinction we try to make because no one wants more distros (and we agree!)

@jorge mmmm we need a better description to call it then

if you don't class it as a distro "custom image" sounds a bit rubbish too

need a good way to describe such a thing in future, but i can't think of something cool right now, will adjust the article now

@gamingonlinux Yeah image is a cloud/server term. It's just new on the desktop.

Don't know what other people are going to call it so I'm going with the industry standard on this one. 😀

@jorge edited the article to note it 👍

if you come up with a better simple way to name it, let me know lol

@gamingonlinux Yeah desktop enthusiasts who aren't used to this are struggling with this one, heh.

Thank you for not calling it immutable -- so we've at least made some progress!

The way I describe it to people who aren't well versed in all of this is it's Fedora Kinoite/Silverblue with a recipe on top, we just manage the recipe.
