Is anyone here successfully #selfhosting #firefox #sync?
I read that it isn't maintained anymore, that it needs a mozilla account anyway, but also that it's very easy to set up and still working..

Any first hand experiences? Or any other ideas how to sync bookmarks and settings? I often find myself adding a bookmark on my laptop, but then it's not available on the desktop and vice versa.

[Edit] I have folder sync between the two computers, so if anyone knows a good way to sync via the file system, that would be perfect!

Interested if you get a positive answer. I looked into FF sync and decided that they didn't really want people self-hosting it -- not the sync server chunk, so much as the account server, which is required.

(A predecessor of it simply needed an accessible DAV storage server, which was pretty easy to arrange.)

I believe most people use bookmark services like wallabag, linkding, linkace...

Arguably, you should be able to rsync bookmarkbackups and places.sql, but not keys?.db.
