@mrbadger42 It really makes zero difference. People don't like to think. So they put their trust in others to think for them. It may be a machine or it may be a politician, but ultimately it's all the same -- someone will utilize this against them. @mrbadger42 to think is to be free... kind of strange to want to get rid of that. Because it's "a bother" i guess @cat567 @mrbadger42 Stallman, the pedophile apologist? https://www.zdnet.com/article/richard-m-stallman-resigns-from-free-software-foundation/ @hosford42 no he isn't he was attacked by corporations because they don't like his free software movements and he is not a Pedro. Please don't say something you don't know @mrbadger42 "So they thought: "Let's do drugs instead. This will definitely set us free"." @mrbadger42 “Once men turned their rights over to DRM in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men at Barnes & Noble with DRM to enslave them” 🥲 Wasn't aware of that #AI-critical quote. Seems I have to start listening to the #Dune audiobooks all over again. ☺️ https://genius.com/Frank-herbert-chapter-1-dune-annotated (The books never really question hereditary autocracy iirc. Would be happy to stand corrected on this though :) ...perhaps ironically I just learned through an #AI that author Frank Herbert was rather critical of political systems' tendencies towards autocracy/oligarchy. https://www.perplexity.ai/search/dcea0388-f66a-407e-abb2-2f20508ba73b?s=c "Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristocratic forms. ..." @mrbadger42 |
@mrbadger42 @briankrebs True, but eliminating the thinking machines didn’t lead to a more egalitarian world in Dune.
