So much trash gets ranked up on Google now.
From a Steam Deck game guide, step 1 is "make sure the deck is running Windows"...the rest of the instructions are clearly about running it through Proton (so SteamOS).

@gamingonlinux I wouldn't be surprised if by "Windows" they meant the desktop mode 😅 @gamingonlinux People still use Google? I dumped it as soon as it started failing its main job: giving me relevant results. This garbage and those funky "ayz147.eaxc" websites soon fed me up. While I understand people using GDrive, GMail, etc., 'cause there's no easy "good" alternatives, there definitely are alternatives when it comes to search engines! @gamingonlinux @gamingonlinux I feel like search engines are kind of useless since AI really started to take off, there are SEO solutions that essentially ensure your generated article always ranks higher than a manually written one and if you try to search very specific stuff it almost seems like they rank for everything related and trash the results enturely! :/ @gamingonlinux most of the links that come up in search engines are now articles with no meaningful content, especially with the boom of ChatGPT and other AI stuff. Welcome to the new internet where site owners are interested in SEO metrics in order to display adverts, but not the site content. This is just sad. @gamingonlinux aren’t AI content farms awesome? 🤢 Google is mostly useless these days. Hope they can remedy this One of the key titles you can tell it's from a content farm that has no idea what they're talking about: "Does X run on Steam Deck? - Answered" @gamingonlinux how do we trick the farms into writing Glorbo articles about steam deck compatibility? Start talking on Reddit about valve renaming proton to glorbo? https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2023/07/redditors-prank-ai-powered-news-mill-with-glorbo-in-world-of-warcraft/amp/ @gamingonlinux The fact that out ranks high in search results is also a key indicator it’s a content farm. @gamingonlinux Wait until AI becomes prevalent. Hundreds of thousands of poorly worded articles that say nothing but hit all the SEO keywords. @gamingonlinux We have reached the era of true content farms. One person writes some comment on reddit or a random forum, some bot ingests the entire forum, groups similar sounding stuff together along with all of the other garbage it ground up, and then it gets regurgitated en masse on to a pre-SEO'd platform facade with a random author name generated and attached. @vadhakara yup that's pretty much how it goes, like the recent fake WoW news https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/07/ai-powered-news-sites-are-dumb-and-redditors-managed-to-trick-them/ "Make sure the deck is running Windows" What is this some campaign from you know who's 🤔 |
@gamingonlinux God I hope that wasn't on my website
